In this lecture-performance Bulgarian artist Valentina Traïanova and Turkish curator Asli Seven explore the many ways radio can offer a space for artistic and scientific experimentation today as well as historically. Structured around a playlist of existing sound pieces and presented in a mock-lecture format, the script weaves documentary and artistic uses of radio waves with fictional narratives and performance. In conversation with past radio works, the duo takes on multiple guises and personas in the form of female astronauts, songwriters, archaeologists and competitive surfers, searching for sites of political resistance, voices of disappeared people and the sounds of past and future artefacts.
